Robert M. Brandon

President and Co-Founder

Robert M. Brandon is a public interest attorney with more than 30 years of public policy, legal, legislative, media and campaign experience at the federal, state and local levels. 

Mr. Brandon co-founded the Fair Elections Legal Network in 2006 as a national, nonpartisan advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. whose overall mission is to remove barriers to registration and voting for traditionally underrepresented constituencies and improve overall election administration through administrative, legal, and legislative reform.  FELN works through its national staff that he supervises and a network of experienced election lawyers around the country who collaborate on a pro bono basis.

Mr. Brandon has experience in all aspects of election law, how mobilization organizations interact with those laws and on voter suppression.  Over the last six years, he has held trainings on election law, interacted with election officials and non-profit voter registration and voter engagement organizations.

Mr. Brandon is President of Robert M. Brandon and Associates, a public affairs firm that works to advance public interest and grassroots goals.  Over the last fifteen years, he has specialized in consumer issues involving health care and telecommunication and Internet policy at the federal administrative level, in Congress, and at the state and local level.  He has also participated in a number of healthcare initiatives involving regional business interests and underserved communities.  He has coordinated national issue campaigns on progressive tax policy and on college access and affordability.

Mr. Brandon has been an advisor to the White House on health care strategy. Earlier in his career, he served as Washington Director of Citizen Action, the Executive Director of the Citizen/ Labor Energy Coalition and Director of the Tax Reform Research Group.  He has been an adjunct lecturer in law at the George Washington University Law School. He has written and testified extensively, and appeared on numerous national and local TV and radio shows.
