The Supreme Court of the United States delivered several landmark decisions over the past few weeks. Though there was major progress for Civil Rights, the Supreme Court delivered a major blow to the voting rights community and minority voters throughout the country.
North Carolina has made a push in recent months to become the worst state for student voters in the country. Following a failed bill to punish in-state students by removing their dependency status for state income taxes, the state legislature omitted student IDs from the list of acceptable voter ID under the new voter ID law set to go into effect in 2016.
Last week Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell signed a new Virginia law which will place what he referred to as “an undue burden on the voters.” We’ve discussed the changes which Governor McDonnell attempted to make to the legislation previously.
